My Makita Leaf Blower came quickly with the Amazon Prime service. Even if the new machine and built in 2007, began to drag it to the third. After that, the train starts first or second. There is no hesitation when you start and then throws herself on him, purring like a big cat. Do not be fooled by the 145 km / h speed air tool. I thought it would be too weak. But most of the leaves blowing in the tasks of inactivity may be gas or 4.1. I think the reason is that ifWe carry the unit, the nozzle is always close to the ground. Only the encounter with wet leaves, I had to use more power from the engine relatively quiet. Oil (not 10W-30) is included. As a 4-stroke engine, no mixing of oil and gas is needed. The manual is badly translated from Japanese, but sufficient. At 10 pounds (wet) and with a sore elbow, I had no trouble making my garden and the leaves blowing in from the garage. You can even blow cobwebs from the windows bright and dry the car.

In one word “DOMINATING”. The Tanaka 65cc TBL-7800 has made me king of the cul-de-sac. They now call me the blow king.

Autumn. 2009. My Tanaka 65cc TBL-7800 arrived late in the afternoon. 4:16 p.m. A quick scan of the yards in the cul-de-sac revealed that the trees had left an abundance of prey all over. My adversaries, or as you would call them, my neighbors, were also surveying the battlefield. I locked eyes with my neighbor, Francis, I lowered my brow and gave him a “whats up” head nod. He returned my head nod with a demonic smile. Stupid french. It was on now. Oh Yeah. See you on the battlefield Saturday morning. What do the French know about blowing anyway.

Saturday morning. 6:55 a.m. Garages opened. The gladiators took the field. We sized each other up. Jaws dropped when I turned to the side and they saw the Tanaka 65cc TBL-7800 strapped to my back. Thats right boys. Drink it in. I just brought a semi truck to a demolition derby full of Hyundais. We all spotted the new guy at the same time and smiled. He wore sunglasses instead of ski goggles. HA HA, hope he likes watery eyes…. amateur.

7:00 a.m. Let the battle begin. City ordinance says no blowers before 7. It was like the gates opening at the Kentucky derby. The action started quickly.
New Guy – The TBL-7800 blew the sunglasses clean off his head. As he ran away I blew one of his flip flops off also. Like I said, amateur… Don’t come into the wolf den wearing deer antlers, idiot. I took the sunglasses as a trophy. The flip flop ended up on the roof. He can kiss that one goodbye.
Francis – The leaves were flying, hot air burned my skin. I sacked up and plowed forward. I knew he was limited by his extension cord. The end came quickly. He surrendered in less than 2 minutes. Imagine that, the French surrendering quickly. Who would have thought.
I stood in the middle of my leaf free yard like a King. My scepter was the Tanaka 65cc TBL-7800. They lined up to kiss my ring and acknowledge the blow king. All except the new guy. We may have put him in therapy for awhile.

The Tanaka TBL-7800 slayed them all that day. Hands down, the clear winner. I did get a little hot on the back. Wear a good shirt. I wore cut off jeans, tank top, knee high moccasins, and ski goggles. Wanted to look respectful when sporting the TBL-7800. No doubt I did it justice.

I have been please with the use of this product. My only concern is that when using the leaf bag/vac adapter, if the bag falls on the same side as the exhaust it will burn a hole in it.

Powered by a 25 cc engine with variable speed control. Air speed 200 mph at a volume of 430 cfm. 10:1 reduction ratio. Professional blower nozzle for better performance. Vacuum attachment included.

I had a Poulan Pro 25CC blower for two seasons, and had nothing but trouble with it. Today it gave up the ghost (wouldn’t draw fuel, or even “pop” with a shot of ether, I suspect a blown seal). So, when I realized an hour’s worth of work had taken all afternoon and was only half done, I wrapped that bad boy around a tree and went and bought the Husqvarna 125B. It “popped” on the first pull and started and ran great on the second. Made short work of the leaves. It’s lighter and just as powerful as the Poulan (when ya could make the Poulan run), and quieter. I like the cruise control, and even better, the air intake on the RIGHT side so for us right handers, it isn’t constantly trying to ingest my shirt tail. Good stuff!

Got it for as hand-held 4-stroke backup for my Echo backpack when that is too much trouble to use.

Starts INSTANTLY with a partial pull. A pleasure to start compared with mass-market 2-stroke blowers.

Off switch poorly located, you can turn it off by accident, easily.

Engine noise is much lower frequency than a 2-stroke and engine seems to operate at low rpm vs. a 2-stroke. It is NOT quiet, you still need headphones.

Must have a big fly-wheel as when you rotatate it, effort is significantly greater than other hand-helds I have used.

Adequate power. The slow turning engine makes you think it is pushing less air than it really is. Nothing approaching a backpack unit, though.

Light weight. Comfortable handle.

Box says warranty is 3 years. Owners manual inside says 1 year as does Makita’s web site. Warning: keep the box or at least the warranty statement on it!

Oil changes every 10 hours required.

Manual was clearly written by someone who is not very good with English language. Kind of Micky Mouse for Makita to do that. Hey Makita, next time send it to me for proofing…I’ll do it for free.

Nice high quality unit and a pleasure to use, but a high quality (Stihl, Echo) 2-stroke will be just as easy to start, cost a little less, weigh less, and probably be more powerful. But it will be more shrill in operation. It is a good buy at one-seventy-five or less, questionable above that.

Powerful 24.5 cc. commercial duty engine. Quick start – low compression engine for easy starting. Large 17.7 oz. fuel tank for longer fun time. Lightweight (9.8 lbs.) for easy maneuverability.* Improved configuration for easier refueling and maintenance. Improved exhaust emissions are EPA Phase II compliant while maintaining power and performance.

i use this blower to clean residual debris out of my refrigerated trailer when unloading, since a broom doesn’t get down in the floor grooves too well. it works great, and saves me a great amount of time and back straining bending in the process. well worth the money. very dependable in startup also. first small engined machine i ever owned that starts when you need it.”i’ll have to take that back, i did own one other machine that was as dependable”.

Much better than my old Ryobi. Officine Blower is very good and great shredder, but with a switch to another is awkward. My old machine had a lever that could be moved to change, while the mower bag remained in place. The old woman could barely blow leaves off the grass, but also on the track. All these shots, no matter where you are. Good product at a great price.

Weed Eater FL1500LE 23cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered 150 MPH Blower (Non-CARB Compliant)

Without doubt, this is the most bizarre review I’ve ever written on any product because not only did I not purchase this leaf blower from Amazon — I picked it up for free at the local landfill. Here’s the story:

A couple years ago I purchased a Poulan Pro BVM200LE and it ran perfectly until it’s untimely death after what I consider to be moderate use. (Click above on the “See all my reviews” link and scroll down to my Poulan Pro review titled “Worked GREAT until it DIED.”) I decided not to replace my dead Poulan with another Poulan, so thus began my search for the “perfect” leaf blower.

After reading various reviews here, on other sites, and in some consumer magazines, I narrowed my choices to a couple of brands in the 5-200 range. I almost pulled the trigger on a purchase, but first I had to haul out a load of trash to the local landfill before closing time. That’s where I spotted what appeared to be a leaf blower among other discarded items.

The landfill regs clearly state “No Scavenging” but when the site manager looked away I made a quick dash, and dug out a Weed Eater FL1500LE leaf blower. Water was running out of the tube as I carried it to the van, so I wasn’t too hopeful it would work. A closer look revealed a lot of corrosion on the few visible metal parts, so that told me my “prize” had probably been left outdoors for some time.

After I got home and had some time to play with this thing, I gave it a once-over visual check. The exterior seemed to be okay — no parts missing and no cracks in the plastic. There was even some gas in the tank. It took some effort to pull the cord even half-way, but then it wouldn’t retract. I had to hit the plastic casing a few times to get the cord to retract. I tinkered with it a few more times, and finally got it to work more or less okay.

Now it was time for the real test. I primed the bulb, set the choke & throttle, then pulled. It gave indications of wanting to live again. On the next pull, it started! So, I immediately went to work blowing off the driveway until the gas in the tank was gone. I put in fresh gas (mixture, of course) and continued blowing the driveway, shrub beds, etc. etc for at least a half-hour or more. It ran just fine. For the past several weeks, it continues to start and run just fine.

Here is how this model Weed Eater compares with my Poulan Pro while it still worked:

Flimsy construction. Comments here about the handle are accurate. It’s a plastic handle bolted to the plastic housing and it feels like it’ll break off at any time. The Poulan has a sturdy, rock-solid feel.

Harder to pull start. Both the Weed Eater & Poulan start on either the first or second pull, but the Weed Eater takes more effort to pull. (Higher compression ratio maybe?) I could place the bottom edge of the Poulan on my knee and easily pull the cord to start it. Can’t do that with this Weed Eater. It has to be held firmly on the ground with one hand on the handle, then pull the cord hard with the other hand. My wife could easily start the Poulan; it’s very difficult for her to pull the Weed Eater cord.

The Weed Eater is a lot louder than the Poulan. If you value your hearing, wear good ear plugs if you purchase/use this Weed Eater.

Blowing power is about the same. This Weed Eater is rated to be 150 mph; the Poulan is rated at 205 mph. Frankly, I can’t tell the difference. Now, I only use a leaf blower on hard surfaces: the driveway, sidewalk, shrub beds that have decorative rock on top, the roof and gutters. For this type of use, this Weed Eater has plenty of wind power. I don’t blow leaves across the lawn — raking is faster. My guess is that the Poulan would do better than the Weed Eater blowing leaves off a lawn.

The Weed Eater has considerably more vibration than the Poulan when running at mid- to high speed.

Since I have no idea how this Weed Eater FL1500LE ran when new, or why the previous owner tossed it in a landfill, the above comparisons may not be valid. However, considering I paid nothing for it, and it runs just fine even after apparently being left outdoors for some amount of time, then tossed on the junk heap, I think 4 stars is fair rating.

If this one lasts for a couple of seasons, I might even consider buying a Weed Eater leaf blower.

Customer Reviews

Chinese Quality – Demolition Man – Kentwood MI
Very interesting, the warranty is 2 years, mine lasted 19 months. Even if you buy repair parts and fix it yourself you’re splitting hairs on being cost affective.
Like most posters, I had problems from day one in the recoil starter. You have a 50/50 chance of it coming back LIKE IT SHOULD!!!
A low price is not a cost savings if the product never works good. Spend some extra money and avoid this product!

Second one died, too – S. Carpenter – Georgia
I believe in second chances, but this one didn’t deserve it. Just like it’s predecessor, the pull cord has seized and the machine is not worth the repair bill even though it’s only about a year old.

Weedeater Featherlite is too quality to purchase – don’t do it! – Mike Karnes –
I only use this blower a few minutes a week, and within the first season of use the engine would sputter and die. It would do this at random and not restart until it completely cooled-off. Now the pull cord will not retract, so there is no way to start it. It’s junk!
